Started in 2006 by Duane Marden, the Roller Coaster DataBase
(RCDB) is the most comprehensive site for information on roller coasters
throughout the world. RCDB has entries
for currently operating coasters, as well as those that are standing but not
operating and those that no longer exist.
The site’s extensive search features allow the user to
search for not only roller coasters, but amusement parks, companies, people,
models, model lines, elements, and websites as well. Each of the aforementioned groups has its own
sub-categories to help narrow your search.
The roller coasters search tab, for example, allows users to search by
current status, year opened, location, design, layout, and much, much more.
In addition to the search function, RCDB also has reports
for new coasters being built, a census for viewing the number of coasters on
each continent, a list of record holders, and also a breakdown of inversions. The Roller Coaster DataBase also includes a
glossary of terms, a short blurb about the site, a section for user comments, a
list of helpful links, and links for contacting the webmaster and submitting
photos.
All in all, the Roller Coaster DataBase is the most complete
encyclopedia for roller coaster information on the net. You can contact them at feedback@rcdb.com, and you can follow them
on Twitter @rcdbdotcom as well.
