Holiday World 2015: 66 Days At Sea - Day 62

On May 19, 2014, Holiday World began releasing information about their 2015 expansion plans. They launched the teaser site 66DaysAtSea.com to give clues over the course of 66 days as to what the big announcement may be.  You can read more about the site here. We'll be highlighting each day's entry as well as providing our analysis of what we think the clues may be hinting at.

Day 62

Analysis

Let's take a look at today's entry:
  • "My hands tremble as I write.  The crew whispers that we are hundreds of miles off course.  Will we ever see the New World?"
    • There might be clue hidden in this passage, but I want to address something more interesting today. Leah Koch posted a new entry on the Holiblog yesterday in which she shared a few touching sentiments about her late father Will.  It's definitely reassuring to hear that the new ride would be something her dad would approve of. It puts some of my apprehension to rest. She also gave more information about the 2015 expansion, letting us know that it will be something unique that has never been done before, and she more or less confirmed a steel coaster (although I still won't rule out anything yet).  I suppose we can rule out a Vekoma Boomerang though.
That's it for today.  Check back tomorrow for our analysis of Day 63.

Holiday World 2015: 66 Days At Sea - Day 61

On May 19, 2014, Holiday World began releasing information about their 2015 expansion plans. They launched the teaser site 66DaysAtSea.com to give clues over the course of 66 days as to what the big announcement may be.  You can read more about the site here. Day 61

Analysis

Let's take a look at today's entry:
  • "Where are the stars that have guided us for so long?  Extinguished by this endless storm.  I fear we have at last lost our way."
    • It seems timely that this post shows up today after what I posted yesterday about questionable management decisions, but I'm going to chock that up as a coincidence. As far as today's entry is concerned, I think this is another clue for a long coaster. Clues up to this point seem to indicate a coaster with considerable length and a considerable amount of darkness. As we get closer to the reveal date, guesses as to what the ride will be are still all over the map. The manufacturer, the type of coaster, the stats, and what elements will be included are still relative unknowns. I've never seen a park and all parties involved hold a secret this close to the vest for this long.
That's it for today.  Check back tomorrow for our analysis of Day 62.

Holiday World 2015: 66 Days At Sea - Day 60

On May 19, 2014, Holiday World began releasing information about their 2015 expansion plans. Day 60

Analysis

Let's take a look at today's entry:
  • "We have not seen the sun for days, only dark clouds.  The wind whips the sails.  Our Mayflower groans.  We steel ourselves for what lies ahead."
    • The easy clues here are "steel" and "lies" which would certainly lead one to believe a flying coaster is on the way.  I, for one, hope it's not since I don't care much for flying coasters.  It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is, I just find them to be a very uncomfortable riding position.
    • I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get a little antsy about the announcement.  Even though the park has said it will be big and expensive, that doesn't mean it will fit into the demographic of the park. Honestly, the installations of the past few years have not really fit the landscape of the park, in my opinion, and I worry they are moving away from the business model that got them where they are today and in a direction that may alienate their core audience.  This is one analysis I hope I'm completely wrong about.
That's it for today.  Check back tomorrow for our analysis of Day 61.

Holiday World 2015: 66 Days At Sea - Day 59

Day 59

Analysis

Let's take a look at today's entry:
  • "Although the winds are still strong, Captain Jones orders the crew to unreef the sails.  We must take this chance, he says, We must steer toward our destiny."
    • Let's take a look at some clues I overlooked on the Holiblog.  This post confirmed the expansion would only include a single attraction, while this post seemed to give away the speed of the ride. 60mph (a mile a minute = 60 miles per hour). I'll try my best to keep up with their new posts over this next week to monitor any clues they may reveal.
That's it for today.  Check back tomorrow for our analysis of Day 60.

Holiday World 2015: 66 Days At Sea - Day 58

They launched the teaser site 66DaysAtSea.com to give clues over the course of 66 days as to what the big announcement may be.  You can read more about the site here. Day 58

Analysis

Let's take a look at today's entry:
  • "The supplies are running low.  Food becomes scarcer by the day.  Will we see the New World tomorrow?  The Next day?  How much longer must we wait?"
    • You know how the Pilgrims could get more food?  They could go to a restaurant.  Not really, since they're on a boat and all, but I haven't mentioned the possibility of a new eatery in awhile so I will  stand by that notion.  Previous clues led me to believe that a new seafood could be in the works, and if that guess is correct it would be interesting to see what type of restaurant it would be.  As far as I know, Holiday World only has counter service eateries, so if the park wanted to do something new and different, a sit-down restaurant would give visitors an option not currently available.
That's it for today.  Check back tomorrow for our analysis of Day 59.
